| NOTES:
Home-educated students may take above-listed courses in any
order. Also, home-educated students below 9th grade may take
above courses via Advanced Placement and receive high school
credit. Credits are not limited to 21. Most collegebound students
will want to increase the value of their transcript by adding
a number of electives, thereby increasing the possibility of
receiving grants, scholarships, etc. and acceptance into more
select colleges. Students should check with the college(s) of
their choice to insure student is meeting the specific college(s)’
requirements (ie. many Ivy League universities require enrollees
to have read specific literature selections). Below are suggestions
that may be useful to fulfill credits for courses listed above. |
English:
Grammar & Composition, Literature (American, British, Ancient,
Modern, Biblical); Poetry, Creative Writing; Analysis of Literature,
etc.
Mathematics: Consumer Math, Algebra 1 &
2, Trigonometry, Calculus, Drafting, Computer-Aided Design,
Accounting, Economics, General Math, Probability, Statistics,
Business Math, Adv. Math, etc.
Social Studies: History other than U.S. (European,
Economic, Ancient, Western Civilizations, Old & New Testament
Survey, Religion, Geography. May also include: Sociology, Economics,
Management, Marketing, Law, Macro & Micro Economics, etc.
U.S. History: America before 1877; since 1877;
History of Politics, Technology, Governments, Religions, the
Military, etc.
Science: Earth, Physical, Biology, Chemistry,
Life Science, Physical Mechanics, General Technology & Mechanics,
Anatomy, Pathology, Physiology, Ecology, Nutrition, Psychology,
Human Growth & Development, Maternal & Child Care/ Development,
Human Behavior, Criminology, etc. |
Health:
Anatomy, Physiology, Disease Processes, Pathology, Interpersonal
Relationships, Nutrition, Growth & Development, First Aid, Aging,
Safety Certificates (Hunter Safety, CPR, CAN), etc.
Physical Education: Participation in a physical
fitness activity: aerobics, biking, skiing, hiking, swimming,
ball games, skating, team sports, weight training, track; earning
formal certification (Red Cross Life Saving, CPR, WSI), etc.
Fine Arts: Acting, dancing, visual arts, art appreciation, music
appreciation, formal art/music training, debate. Participation
in choir, band, orchestra, musical ensembles, dramatic productions,
etc.
Computer Skills: Keyboarding Skills; working
with applications, documents, printers, Web Sites; proper usage
and care of computer equipment, etc.
Electives: Any non-required course listed above
or create course titles from travel, reading, personal interest,
