Family Christian Academy was established in 1990 as a legal umbrella covering and service to those families who want to home school, yet still desire the teaching and support of a private school.

In 2000,  Family Christian Academy On Line introduced the Switched-On Schoolhouse multimedia curriculum, and the Family Christian Academy On Line was created to allow students the support of an On Line Academy, and the educational power of the Switched-On Schoolhouse.
