Most
traditional High School programs emphasize preparing students for
college. Many young adults wanting to enter the workforce—instead
of attend college—find that High School is not preparing them
for the futures they have in mind. Nationally, employers agree:
traditional public school curricula does not adequately prepare
young people to be the kind of individuals they are looking to hire.
Also, some young people just don’t do well in a Public high
school, while others have been suspended or expelled for personal
reasons.
For
students who do not want (or are unable) to continue in public high
school yet still want to receive a high school diploma, Family Christian
Academy has created its Apprentice Program.
FCA’s
Apprentice program is an appropriate alternative to the standard
college-prep track. This 1-2 year Program recognizes that today’s
young person needs to be as educated to enter the workforce as he/she
is to enter college. The difference is that entering the workforce
requires a unique knowledge-base and skill set.

FCA’s
Apprentice program is based on the traditional and time-honored
Apprentice approach to job training. The Program provides your student
with invaluable work experience and on-the-job learning.
The
student’s employment is supplemented with practical classroom
academics that equip your student for success in life. A primary
aim of the program is to prepare your student to graduate with a
high school diploma within one to two years. Also, the program will
teach your student a wide range of essential skills.
FCA’s
Apprentice program is designed to produce confident and responsible
adults, with the self-awareness, life and job skills, work experience,
and diploma needed to jump-start a career and begin a successful,
independent life.
Placement
in the program begins with extensive aptitude and occupational testing
of your student.
The
program provides monthly evaluation of the student’s workplace
and academic performance and also provides the feedback necessary
to improve the student’s future performance.
Students
in FCA’s Apprentice Program participate in the adult world
of work while learning the practical and academic skills that continually
improve their value to their employers.

no longer prepare children for the real world.”

in One - Two Years
Upon
successfully completing this fast-track program, students graduate
with a high school diploma and are ready to enter the workforce
full-time, attend college, or a technical school. (If students decide
to enter college, remedial classes may be necessary for certain
academic courses).
Students
may earn their way through the Apprentice Program
At
the parent’s discretion, students may pay all, or part, of
the cost of the Apprentice program with income earned on the job.
By using their own earnings to pay for the program, students learn
independence, the value of an education, and may decide that college,
rather than a job, is a better choice for a young person just leaving
school.
