Attendance
Compulsory Attendance Requirements
Family Christian Academy meets or exceeds state Statutes regarding attendance.
Regular school attendance is essential for academic success.
Students should arrive five (5) minutes before the school day begins so they may be ready for pledges, prayer and Bible. Tardiness greatly affects not only the student, but the student’s entire class. If a child is consistently tardy, the administration will meet with the parents. After warning has occurred, students will not be permitted to enter class if they arrive tardy.
Notice to Apprentice students: Consistent tardiness will be treated as a cause for dismissal from the school.
Students are to be picked up from school not later than the end of their last regularly scheduled school class unless an alternative arrangement has been cleared by the school office. Because no students will be left unattended in school, students not picked up in a timely manner will be placed in Aftercare at a cost to parents of $5.00 for each 15 minutes (minimum $5.00). This cost is to be paid before the child leaves the school. If parent is unable to pay at the time of pick-up an additional fee of $5.00 will be assessed to cover the cost of billing. FCA’s Aftercare policy does not apply to students who drive their own vehicle.
If a student is going to be absent and the parent knows this in advance, the parent is asked to notify the school in advance of the absence by calling the office. A note is required relating the reason for the absence including the parent’s/guardians signature.
Any student is considered a drop-out after 10 consecutive absences or 15 unexcused absences in a semester, and FCA is required to notify the Department of Education of the Department of Transportation of the student’s truancy.
