Graduation 2011
Making Memories Last a Lifetime!

Early Bird Deadline February 1st!
$100 Late Fee after Deadline!

FCA has had the disctinct priveledge of offering its members an unforgettable graduation ceremony each year. Ceremonies are offered for the Kindergarten, Eighth Grade and Senior classes. It’s a milestone and huge academic accomplishment that should be celebrated by going all out and that is just what we do at FCA. Past ceremonies have been held at Opryland Hotel, the Grand Ole Opry House and at Cornerstone Church in Madison, TN. The date and location of the 2011 ceremony are still being planned and will be annouced as soon as plans are finalized.

Promotion Ceremony
The first ceremony is held for K-11th grade students. This early evening ceremony is the perfect opportunity for you to recognize your student(s) for their academic accomplishments. Special
emphasis is placed on kindergarten and 8th-grade students, as they will be fitted in cap and gown and issued their diplomas. All other students will wear their church best and be presented with promotional certificates. We also offer special pricing for large families.

Senior Graduation
The second ceremony honors our graduating Seniors. This joyous evening will always be remembered as one of the highlights of your families’ and friends’ lives as they see the graduates recognized for their hard work and achievements. Everyone is invited and encouraged to attend to support our Seniors!

Special Touches
The FCA Graduation ceremony has a lot of special touches that will make your students’ graduation very memorable. The ceremony is decorated to make an impression of elegance and celebration.
Parents are asked to submit up to four pictures of the graduate that will be placed into a movie format with background music. Pictures are arranged chronologically in order to show your student growing up on the big screen to be viewed by all your family and friends on graduation day. FCA also asks that each participant send in a personalized letter which is read as they walk across the stage to receive their diploma.

Please submit both page 1 and 2 of your graduation application before the February 1st deadline in order to receive the best price.

Have You Signed Up for
Achievement Testing?

FCA recommends that students be tested at least one year in the elementary level (3rd), middle school level (6th) and every year in high school (9th-12th), unless your student is scheduled to take a college entrance exam. Letting your student have a testing experience periodically allows parents to monitor progress and keeps students practiced in the skill of taking tests. Testing is recommended every year for students that are on a college path and/or plan to return to the school system.

Students home educating with FCA are not required to take the SAT test. However, in order to graduate with an FCA approved diploma, students must meet the FCA credit requirements and obtain a qualifying score from a recognized test.

You may register to take the SAT test online or by calling the office at 615.847.3999. FCA offers testing sites in all major TN cities and provides materials for a private teacher to administer the test in your home, if you prefer. The test is $80 when testing at a group location and $125 for private testing.

Play entitled, "Jason and the Golden Fleece"
By John Olive, based on the Greek Epic Poem,
"Appollonius of Rhodes"

Jason of Thessaly returns to avenge the murder of his parents and reclaim his rightful throne, but the usurper, his uncle Pelias, binds him first to a hero quest: if Jason will bring Pelias the famed Golden Fleece -- a source of astounding power -- then Pelias will hand over the crown without bloodshed. This drum-pounding, primitive tale of ancient deities, supernatural entities, betrayal and justice, was written in the 3rd Century B.C. by a librarian of the ancient Library of Alexandria, and has fascinated adventurous minds ever since.

 FROM THE WORD

Psalm 1: 1-6

1Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.

2But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.

3And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.

4The ungodly are not so: but are like the chaff which the wind driveth away.

5Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous.

6For the LORD knoweth the way of the righteous: but the way of the ungodly shall perish.

FCA
SCHOOL IMPROVEMENT TEAM NOTICE

The School Improvement Team (SIT) has been formed and met for an orientation meeting on December 7.  The team is comprised of representatives from our staff, teachers, parents and students. This team will begin meeting to seek additional accreditation. FCA is currently accredited through TACRS and will now seek additional acreditation through AdvancED. The Accreditation Agency has established a set of Standards which it requires a school to follow in order to be considered for accreditation.  SIT will meet to create an internal School Self-Assessment based on how the school is currently following the Standards.  The second function of the SIT will be to meet at regular intervals to make ongoing evaluations of the school as well as to make recommendations for the school's improvement in relation to the Standards. In April of 2011, the Accreditation Agency will visit FCA to perform an on-sight evaluation based on the conclusions of the SIT's internal Self-Assessment.

UPDATE 1/11/11

We will be postponing the School Improvement Team Meeting due to inclimate weather. Davidson County has called off school for Tuesday, January 11th. The SIT meeting was orginally scheduled for Tuesday, January 11th in the evening from 6:00-8:00 and will be moved to next Tuesday, January 18th at the same time.

Many of you asked for a link listing the seven accreditation standards that we will be reviewing at our next meeting. Following is a link that will provide you with this info.

The next meeting will include a review of each of the accreditation standards, assigning team leaders and having all SIT members choose the team and standard to work with for the duration of this project. Thank you once again for your commitment to working with FCA to meet it's accreditation goals.  Your sacrifice of time and service are greatly appreciated, look forward to seeing you on January 18th!
