Pi Day at FCA
Monday, March 14th
6th - 12th Grade Students

Pi Day is celebrated across the nation as a fun activity to help students understand the meaning of "pi", a mathematical number that expresses the ratio of the radius of a circle to its circumference. We have begun talking about the formulas we will use, and on pi day, we will perform calculations using the formula. Also, we will be doing activities which involve a play on the words "pi" and "pie".
Also, on Monday, the students will be allowed to bring pies or other round snacks, to enjoy and to share with the younger students.
After snack time, we will go outside for "Pi Wars". They will be allowed to throw pies (tins of Whip Cream) at each other, if they choose to participate. Anyone wanting to participate will need to bring either cans of Redi-Whip or pie tins and Whip Cream. They will need a change of clothes for this activity.
Students that are not regularly scheduled to attend on Monday may be present for this activity.
If you have any questions about this or any other topic, please feel free to contact Karen Ward at KarenW@familychristianacademy.com.
BRING: Please bring a pie dessert, change of clothes, If you have pi decorated clothing you have permission to wear a pi shirt instead of the standard FCA uniform shirt.

Making Memories Last a Lifetime!
For Kindergarten, 8th Gade & Seniors

FCA has had the disctinct priveledge of offering its members an unforgettable graduation ceremony each year. Ceremonies are offered for the Kindergarten, Eighth Grade and Senior classes. It’s a milestone and huge academic accomplishment that should be celebrated by going all out and that is just what we do at FCA. Past ceremonies have been held at Opryland Hotel, the Grand Ole Opry House and at Cornerstone Church in Madison, TN. The date and location of the 2011 ceremony are still being planned and will be annouced as soon as plans are finalized.
Promotion Ceremony
The first ceremony is held for K-11th grade students. This early evening ceremony is the perfect opportunity for you to recognize your student(s) for their academic accomplishments. Special emphasis is placed on kindergarten and 8th-grade students, as they will be fitted in cap and gown and issued their diplomas. All other students will wear their church best and be presented with promotional certificates. We also offer special pricing for large families.
Senior Graduation
The second ceremony honors our graduating Seniors. This joyous evening will always be remembered as one of the highlights of your families’ and friends’ lives as they see the graduates recognized for their hard work and achievements. Everyone is invited and encouraged to attend to support our Seniors!
Special Touches
The FCA Graduation ceremony has a lot of special touches that will make your students’ graduation very memorable. The ceremony is decorated to make an impression of elegance and celebration.
Parents are asked to submit up to four pictures of the graduate that will be placed into a movie format with background music. Pictures are arranged chronologically in order to show your student growing up on the big screen to be viewed by all your family and friends on graduation day. FCA also asks that each participant send in a personalized letter which is read as they walk across the stage to receive their diploma.
Please submit both page 1 and 2 of your graduation application before the February 1st deadline in order to receive the best price.

FCA begins accepting fall enrollments now through March 31st and provides an early bird discount for reenrolling families. Don't miss out on these great savings. Prepay initial fees and save $100 off initial fees and save $25- $50 off monthly tuition fees for the 2011/2012 school year.
It has been our great privilege to serve your families academic needs. FCA is now accepting enrollments for the 2011/2012 school year. Our mission at FCA is to teach students to love God, love others, and to be academically prepared as an expression of Christ to their generation and generations to come.
We would like to take this opportunity to let you know about a special offer made available to families who reenroll for the 2011/2012 school year. You can save big if you enroll early! To enroll early, complete forms A-I (pages 45-53) of the student application and submit with your initial fees. FCA
SCHOOL IMPROVEMENT TEAM NOTICE
The School Improvement Team (SIT) has been formed and met for an orientation meeting on December 7. The team is comprised of representatives from our staff, teachers, parents and students. This team will begin meeting to seek additional accreditation. FCA is currently accredited through TACRS and will now seek additional acreditation through AdvancED. The Accreditation Agency has established a set of Standards which it requires a school to follow in order to be considered for accreditation. SIT will meet to create an internal School Self-Assessment based on how the school is currently following the Standards. The second function of the SIT will be to meet at regular intervals to make ongoing evaluations of the school as well as to make recommendations for the school's improvement in relation to the Standards. In November of 2011, the Accreditation Agency will visit FCA to perform an on-sight evaluation based on the conclusions of the SIT's internal Self-Assessment.
Many of you asked for a link listing the seven accreditation standards that we will be reviewing at our next meeting. Following is a link that will provide you with this info.
The school improvement team continues to meet each Tuesday evening from 6:00pm - 8:00pm. We are making excellent progess towards completing the SA (Self-Assessment). We invite you to be a part of this process if you are interested. Thank you once again for your commitment to working with FCA to meet it's accreditation goals. Your sacrifice of time and service are greatly appreciated, look forward to seeing you at future meetings.
